5th Class Suggested Work 30th March- 3rd April

Hello 5th Class :)

I really hope you’re all keeping well and minding yourselves and your families. I really miss seeing you all in person and I’m looking forward to being reunited with you all when this is all over :)

The work listed below is suggested work, please do not put yourselves under pressure to get it all done!! :)

Finally, I want to wish Jada and Sadie a Happy Birthday for last week- I hope you both had a lovely day!! I also want to wish an early Happy Birthday to Aoibhe and Leila :)


  1. Continue with revising weekly spelling lists. Each day pick four of the spellings and put them into sentences.

  2. Continue with creative writing: autobiography and fictional story ‘When the School was closed’.

  3. Procedural writing: write out a step by step recipe how to bake/cook something of your choice.

  4. Continue to read as much as you can.

  5. Write a film review based on a film you have watched during the time off school.

  6. Write a book review based on a book you have read during the time off school.


  1. Continue to complete your Mental Maths book daily including the problem-solving and Friday review sections.

  2. Games to play: Here is a list of all the maths skills pupils learn in 5th Class https://ie.ixl.com/math/class-5. These skills are organised into categories, and you can move your mouse over any skill name to preview the skill. To start practicing, just click on any link. IXL will track your score, and the questions will automatically increase in difficulty As you improve. Please focus on sections A-C this week.

  1. Login to https://www.folensonline.ie/registration and register as a ‘teacher’ to get free access to all the resources. When asked for ‘roll number’ when registering please use ‘Prim20’.

  2. Once registered with Folens Online, search ‘Abair Liom G’ and click ‘resources’. Revise the scèalta and comhráite that we have already done and play the games, answer the questions orally, etc. like we do on the whiteboard. This will help you to revise the vocab and ceisteanna associated with the different themes.


  1. Continue your science project- making something out of as many recycled materials as possible.

  2. Habitat project: describe and draw how we can help to build new habitats for animals. Choose one of the following animals/insects: Ladybird, tadpole, bee, butterfly, sparrow, spider, ant, frog.

  3. Geography and Science Small World Book- Unit 15: Weather Climate and Atmosphere pg. 84-88. Read chapter and complete questions in copy book.

Physical Education:

  1. Dance along to some ‘Just Dance’ videos on YouTube.

  2. Do some PE lessons with The Body Coach (Joe Wicks) on YouTube: search ‘P.E with Joe’.

  3. Search ’Cosmic Kids Yoga’ on YouTube and do some yoga of your choice.
