Every year we have our parent/guardian-teacher meetings, for all classes from Senior Infants to 6th class, in November. In February, each year, we usually hold our Junior Infant meetings to allow the little ones a chance to settle in. We told you earlier in this school year, that all our meetings were moving to February. They will be held during the week of February the 8th to the 12th. This change allowed all the children to settle into school and learning after the change of pace brought by the first experience of Remote Learning.
Our teachers will be in contact with you over the next few days to allocate a time for you to talk. As usual, we allocate 10 minutes per child for each meeting. In some cases, this is more than enough time, and in others a longer chat may be needed. If you have specific concerns that cannot be fully addressed in that slot, the conversation can be picked up again and further discussed. In this scenario, each teacher will have to contact the family directly so siblings may have slots that are at different times or on different days. It is important to try to find a space to have your conversation in private. The child under discussion, and indeed siblings, should not be in the room while the discussion takes place.
We hope that you will find these meetings helpful and positive. We all recognise that remote learning is a new approach for families and for staff. We know that everyone is doing more than their best in this new reality. Indeed, some of our staff have to work while looking after their own children in the same way that you are.
We are looking forward to checking in with you and to talking over how your child has been getting along with learning.
We hope that you, your families and friends are well and that they continue to be so.
