Art and Artists 2016/2017

Since Christmas we have looked at these artists.

Mainie Jellet – we explored her abstract paintings and designs, some of which were used on big carpets and rugs.  Then we made our own Mainie-inspired abstract designs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

César Manriqué – we looked at his fish designs and drew our own before colouring them on the computer.   Manrique by 5th class 2017

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We watched an old silent film by Georges Méliès about a rocket going to the moon and we then made our own moons from plasticine.

After looking at the sculptures of Henry Moore we did these drawings.

Learn Together Noticeboard

For this month 5th class looked at Ruby Bridges, who was sent to an all white school in 1962 when a judge ordered schools to end segregation.  Here is a picture of the Norman Rockwell painting ‘The Problem We All Live With’ done in charcoal.
